Michael Pumphrey, AFC®

Senior Associate Wealth Advisor

Michael was born in 1982 and raised in Bellaire, TX, graduating from Bellaire High School with honors. Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art and Biology cum laude from Claremont McKenna College in 2004. Upon graduation, he completed post-baccalaureate coursework in furniture design and woodworking at Palomar College.

Michael has held positions as an Artist-in-Residence at the Nottingham Center for the Arts as well as a Studio Fellow at the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. He managed the woodworking programs at Penland School of Crafts as the Wood Studio Coordinator and at Western Piedmont Community College as an Adjunct Professor.

Since 2015, Michael has taught architectural and engineering design at Cypress Woods High School where he led his school’s chapter of the Technology Student Association to 6 consecutive Texas state titles. 

Michael has recently completed the Accredited Financial Counselor® program at Texas Tech University. He is currently enrolled in the Master of Science degree program in Personal Financial Planning at Kansas State University with an emphasis in Financial Therapy and is working toward becoming a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. 

In his free time, Michael enjoys volunteering with several organizations that offer financial coaching/literacy education and tax preparation. His other hobbies include dancing, sailing, gardening, and camping with his partner.
